It was announced via a press release in March that Manchester City Council has trademarked the Manchester Bee symbol, and that it had made it available to use free of charge, under license.
The trademark relates to a number of variations of the bee design, some of which are featured on this page, with the full selection available over on the trademark application site.
The trademark covers the following classes and terms: 16 (Paper, cardboard; printed matter; adhesives; stickers; decals, cards; posters), 21 (Glassware; porcelain; earthenware) and 25 (Clothing; footwear; headgear).
While the trademarked designs are free to use, a percentage of any profit generated on any items sold featuring the design must be given to one of the following charities: We Love Manchester Emergency Fund, The Lord Mayor Charity Appeal Trust – We Love MCR, We Love MCR Memorial Fund and Big Change.
